You’re probably wondering who the heck is this guy and why is he writing to me? Well I’m just a friend of your mom who has been helping me. They call it coaching and the terminology does fit. Most coaches are there to help us improve our undiscovered ablities. I just wanted you to know that we’ve never met but I care about your health and well being too. Wishing you the best. Good luck, Steve

Hey Kevin, it’s cousin Reg from Ohio again. I thought I’d check out your blog again to see what’s up and noticed that you’ve posted some photos. I really enjoyed looking at them. You’ve got a great smile and it looks like great soccer form too. Keep imagining being back on the soccer field. Don’t underestimate the POWER in IMAGINING!
I love the picture with you and the kangaroo. My wife Janice and I lived in Australia and taught school there for two years. We lived in Melbourne but traveled all over the continent while we were there. That was a long time ago (1976-77). We loved “Oz”. I’m sure you did too. You need to return there to live one day, or at least stay and travel there for a few months. A short visit just doesn’t do it justice. We always said of “Oz”, because it’s so big and vast that, “It’s a nice place to live, but I wouldn’t want to visit there.”
I went to my weekly men’s group tonight. I shared your story with two of my great friends. (Our group was small tonight because it’s summer and some people are vacationing.) Our group prayed for you, as I do often, and my friends have promised to keep praying for you and all your family, too. I’m telling you this because I think prayer is more powerful when the person being prayed for knows about it. When I had cancer 25 years ago (and a big gut surgery to go with it) it really helped me when people would call or write and say, “I’m praying for you.” I hope you find it helpful too.
We’re having a good summer here in Ohio. Janice and I are both school teachers so we have the summer off. I rode 6 days of a 7 day bicycle ride in Indiana back in June which was great fun ( http://www.triri.org/ ). Our son, Tyler, got married to our daughter’s husband’s sister which was a really cool event. And now Janice has me working on her LIST. I’ve redecorated the living room, foyer and hall, and now I’m remodeling her office. I’m riding my bicycle when I can, but it seems I never get to ride as much as I want to.
So Kev, how old are you now and where are you in the school process? I’ve lost track. And if it isn’t too much trouble, would you update me on your brother and sister. No hurry on that. I’ll be happy to hear from you whenever you’re feelin’ like it. And if you don’t feel like it, that’s OK too.
Hang in there Kevin. I’ll keep thinkin’ of ya and checkin’ in.

Kev, Rebecca and I are writing to you from Solana Beach, near Del Mar, CA. So pretty is the beach, and we spent the day at a spa. LOL. Noone walks the beach under the moonlight like we do, it is surreal. You have those kind of memories and experiences to call upon, too. Treasure them and also, please know we are all here to help you tap into your strengths when you need a reminder of how awesome YOU are!
Infinite love and inspiration, Julie and Rebecca Raymond

It’s the Pattersons here, just wanting to tell you that you’re in our thoughts and prayers. We’re praying you and your family will find the very best option for your complete healing, and that if that involves surgery, you will be able to find the best surgeon possible for the job! We sure think you are a great young man.

Hey Kev, Uncle Craig and I just got back from Hawaii yesterday and went back to school today. Yes, we are already starting school here in Aurora! Yikes! Remember adjusting to the time change from Austrailia?Well, our’s was not that extreme, but getting up at 6am with it feeling like 3am was not fun! It is good to keep up with how you are doing and tis is the first time I have seen all the pics that have been put on your site. Fun! Hang in there!
Love, Aunt Lo and Uncle Craig

Hi Kev, Papa and I are home from staying with Amy and Kimmy. We got to see Ev and Ted and Ben and Kev and the boys too.
Thanks for writing an entry. It was good to hear what is on your mind. When are you and your family going to Mexico? The trip must be coming up soon. We’re praying for you Kev, and for the wisdom of the doctors working to figure out what’s best for you.
Give our love to your parents, Katie and Phil. Love you, Papa and Grammie

We’ve thinking about you and your whole family. We’re so glad you’re having that appointment with the doctor– and soon they can help you feel better! It’ll be great to see you bouncing around the neighborhood again soon.
So happy to hear you and your family and friends will get in a trip to Mexico before school starts later this month. The ocean and some R&R on the beach will surely be good for you all.
See you soon!

Finally, we have internet access during our motor home trip. We have wanted to write you earlier. It was good to see you last month, especially to see your great smile as you bounced on the trampoline and when we played games together in your back yard. We are proud of you-that you can endure your health problems and pain, yet be so brave as to try to enjoy things when you are able.
We are in Estes Park, Colorado enjoying the spectacular mountains, but it has been hot. Oops, there was just a clap of thunder and lightening. Glad we are safe in our motor home.
Thanks for keeping us informed. Finally there is a plan for your recovery and soon you will know what will happen. Your good attitude will help pull you through this.
You are in our thoughts and prayers daily. You will be able to watch the Olympics soon. That is something to look forward to for your enjoyment.
We love you, Grandpa & Ev

Dear Kevin and family,
Hi. This is the Soper family. We met you at Alex Johnson’s wedding reception a couple of months ago (I think that’s where it was…).
You’re a real trooper, Kevin. Even though you may feel weak a lot of the time, you have an INCREDIBLY strong spirit inside you. Remember how strong you are. It is easy for anyone to see after reading your story on this website.
You are all amazing. Just getting through one day at a time with hope and optimism can feel like climbing Mt. Everest (or Ranier!) Hang in there. I can tell that you are all being really blessed to pull together as a family to make it through this.
God bless you all,
Stan, Gwen, Shannon, Greg and Natalie Soper
